BEARDEN's Story

In June 2008 Meredith and Scott Layton (sister and brother-in-law to Cup founder Ericka Frank) opened The Cup's second store in Knoxville’s Bearden area. Their dedication to excellence and commitment to each other, their family, and their shops is obvious.  We are honored that these two go-getters are our Knoxville Licensees.

Kira Schifano started working at The Cup in December of 2008 and became the manager of the Bearden store in August of 2011.  Scott and Meredith are proud to have her leading the Bearden team, but we’re pretty sure she’s sticking around because she’s addicted to our Cuppa Coffee Cake.  Away from The Cup, Kira enjoys soccer and playing with her rescue dog, Peanut. When we asked this William and Mary graduate what her favorite part of working at The Cup was (besides the coffee cake), she said getting to provide delicious cupcakes to friends, family, and former teachers who come to see her at the shop.  While we think that’s a lovely answer, we sort of wonder if her favorite part is actually showing off her fancy headbands (seriously, they are constantly changing…we dare you to come in to the shop every week to prove us right)!
